RAIL LINK WITH PRIVATE PORTS

Ministry of Railways propose to strengthen
Rail linkages to all major ports including major private ports.
In case of Pipavav port, a Joint
venture company named Pipavav Rail Corporation Limited, with equal
equity partnership between the Ministry of Railways and Gujarat
Pipavav Port Limited has been incorporated. This company executes
Surendranagar – Pipavav Broad Gauge link project. The 270 kms.
Long line is expected to cost Rs.373 crores as per the latest
estimation, which includes interest during construction, contingency
and preoperative expenditure.
In case of Mundra Port, the entire
54 km. line between Adipur to Mundra has already been constructed
by Gujarat Advani Port Limited at their own cost and this line
has already become operational.

written reply to a question by Shri P.S.Gadhavi in the Lok Sabha
