There has been no request from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to shift the Army camp located in the Red Fort, Delhi. It is on the request from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) that the Indian Army has proposed to hand over to ASI, rampart and wall quarters of the Red Fort, Delhi. Eight shops at Red Fort under control of the Army, are also proposed to be handed over to ASI after the unauthorized occupants of these shops are evicted.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply to Shri Sadashivrao Dadoba Mandlik and Shri CN Singh in Lok Sabha today.
