A non public fund with Raksha Mantri called Raksha Mantri Discretionary Fund provides for financial assistance to ex-Servicemen and their dependents in penury and having no other source of income.

As per the guidelines of the fund :-

(a) Rs 1,000/- per month for two years as assistance to old infirm ex-servicemen/widows of ex-servicemen.

(b) Rs 8,000/- for Marriage of daughters of ex-servicemen/widows in penury.

    1. Rs 10,000/- for repair of house for ex-servicemen / widows in penury.
    2. Upto Rs. 15,000/- for medical treatment, depending on the nature and the gravity of the ailment.
    3. Rs. 100/- per month, per child for a maximum of three children up to XII standard as ‘grant for children education’.
    4. In other cases such as natural calamities, accidental death or where Raksha Mantri/Raksha Rajya Mantri feels that the case deserves sympathetic consideration in respect of ex-servicemen/widows in penury is Rs. 15,000/- no single transaction is to exceed the said amount.
