• Haryana has registered a remarkable improvement in the sex ratio at birth (SRB) with the ratio jumping to 938 in February 2017. The average SRB for the past one year from March 2016 to February 2017 has been recorded as 907.
• Budget allocation for scheme increased in 2017-18 to 200 crore rupees.
• Ministry of HRD has allocated Rs. 5 lakh per district, for instituting district level awards to be given to 5 schools in each district every year.

Enhancing the proportion of accessible Government Buildings

• Completed accessibility audit of 1653 buildings identified by state government;
• 1469 access audit reports submitted to the State Nodal Officers;
• Proposal of 566 buildings received under Scheme arising out of PWD act 1995 (SIPDA);
• Sanction of Rs 4061.49 lakh issued for 225 buildings. (Funds for the rest of the cities will be released soon); and
• Around Rs.148 lakh released to auditors for conducting access-audit with more payment planned for disbursement.

Transportation System Accessibility

• 25 out of 32 international airports have been provided with accessibility features namely, ramps, accessible toilets, lifts with braille symbols and auditory signals.
• All 75 ‘A1’ category railway-stations; 305 out of 332 ‘A’ category stations and 221 out of 302 ‘B’ category railway-stations have been retrofitted with short-term accessibility features.
• Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has issued instructions to the States and Executive Director of organisations of State Undertakings to ensure that 10% of Government owned Public Transport is made fully accessible to the PwDs by March, 2018.

Information and Communication System accessibility

• Rs. 26, 18, 95,200/- is sanctioned to make 917 websites accessible, out of which Rs.10, 47, 58,080/- is disbursed, as the first instalment.

• The target for National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) was to train 10.00 Lakh candidates, which was achieved in June 2016.
• The target for Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (DISHA) was 42.50 Lakh Candidates which has been achieved in December 2016.

Aims to achieve full immunization of at least 90% children by 2020

Full immunization cover to missed out and left out children and pregnant women during routine immunization rounds, against 7 life threatening diseases.

• More than 2.1 crore children and around 56 lakh pregnant women have been immunized under Mission Indradhanush which was launched to reach the unreached
• Around 60 lakh Vitamin A doses have been distributed along with 52 lakh ORS packets and 1.8 crore Zinc tablets.
• From 1% annual increase in coverage of Full Immunization, Mission Indradhanush has resulted in a 6.7% annual expansion in the immunization coverage as per the report of Integrated Child Health & Immunization Survey (INCHIS).
• Mission Indradhanush has been launched in 2014-15 to reach out to the children where routine vaccination cannot be reached out. The objective of Mission Indradhanush is to increase full immunization coverage in India to at least 90% children by 2020.
• Three phases of Mission Indradhanush have been completed in which 497 districts across 35 states/UTs have been covered. Fourth phase of Mission Indradhanush is ongoing in 68 districts of NE states from 7th February 2017. As of now, 505 districts across 35 state/UTs have been covered under various phases of Mission Indradhanush. The fourth phase of Mission Indradhanush began in 182 districts across 18 other states from 7th April 2017.
• India has validated Maternal & Neonatal tetanus elimination in May 2015, well before the target date of December 2015.
• Country achieved MNT Elimination through the strengthening of health systems by innovative programmes like JananiSurakshaYojana (JSY) and JananiShishuSurakshaKarayakaram (JSSK) to improve institutional delivery and by strengthening Routine Immunization.


• Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV):
• In concurrence with the World Polio End Game strategy, IPV was introduced in November 2015 in six states and expansion of IPV was done throughout the country by June 2016.
• A total of 16 states/UTs are following two fractional dose schedule while the remaining 20 states/UTs are following single dose schedule and will be shifting to fractional dose schedule soon
• Till February 2017, around 1.47 crore doses of IPV have been administered to children since its introduction.


• Rotavirus Vaccine:
• Approximately 42.5 lakh doses of Rotavirus vaccine have been administered to children since its introduction till February 2017.
• To reduce the burden of diarrhea caused by Rotavirus, the government introduced Rotavirus vaccine in March 2016 in four states of Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha and has been expanded to four more states namely Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tripura on 18th February 2017 and will be expanded to Tamil Nadu by May 2017.
• The vaccine is provided as three doses at 6, 10 and 14 weeks of age.


• Rubella vaccine as Measles Rubella (MR) vaccine:
• More than 3.3 crore children have been provided MR vaccine in the ongoing vaccination campaign till 31st March 2017.
• MR vaccination campaign targeting children from 9 months up to 15 years of age, has been launched on 5th February 2017 in five states namely Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Lakshadweep &Puducherry.
• Subsequent to the completion of campaign, the Rubella vaccine will be introduced as MR vaccine replacing measles containing vaccine 1 & 2 at 9-12 months and 16-24 months of age. The MR campaign will be completed in the remaining states by December, 2018.


• Adult JE vaccine:
• Adult JE vaccination campaign has been completed in 27 districts during which 3.15 crore adults were vaccinated with JE vaccine
• Japanese Encephalitis vaccination in children was introduced in 2006. However, the vaccine was expanded in adult population of districts with high disease burden of adult JE in 2015.
• A total of 31 districts have been identified for adult JE vaccination in the states of Assam, Uttar Pradesh & West Bengal; and the.
• JE vaccination campaign in remaining 4 districts is scheduled from 20th April 2017.


• tOPV to bOPV switch:
• India has switched from tOPV to bOPV on 25 April, 2016 wherein tOPV has been completely replaced by bOPV in both polio campaigns and Routine Immunization.

Under the scheme a loan of upto Rs. 50000 is given under sub-scheme ‘Shishu’; between Rs. 50,000 to 5.0 Lakhs under sub-scheme ‘Kishore’; and between 5.0 Lakhs to 10.0 Lakhs under sub-scheme ‘Tarun’.

Loans taken do not require collaterals. These measures are aimed at increasing the confidence of young, educated or skilled workers who would now be able to aspire to become first generation entrepreneurs; existing small businesses, too, will be able to expand their activates.

• Loans more than Rs.1.80 lakh crore disbursed to over four crore borrowers in 2016-17 (As per data available till 13th April 2017)

• Scheme caters to promoting entrepreneurship amongst women, SC& ST category i.e those section of the population understood to be facing significant hurdles due to lack of advice/mentorship as well as inadequate and delayed credit.
• The Scheme facilitates bank loans between Rs.10 lakh and Rs.1 crore to at least one Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe borrower and at least one Woman borrower per bank branch for setting up Greenfield enterprises. This enterprise may be in manufacturing, services or the trading sector.
• The scheme is to benefit at least 2.5 lakh borrowers. The scheme is operational and the loan is being extended through Scheduled Commercial Banks across the country.
• To extend collateral free coverage, Government of India has set up the Credit Guarantee Fund for Stand Up India (CGFSI).

• As on 29.03.2017, Rs. 5237.29 crore sanctioned of which Rs. 2704.19 crore disbursed in 25435 accounts (20305 – women, 1086-ST and 4044 – SC).

• 1835 applications have been received for recognition, out of which 713 had the required documents and have been recognized as Startups by DIPP
• 146 applications could be considered for tax benefits, out of which, 10 Startups have been approved by IMB for availing tax benefit
• 270+ Startups have been mentored for incubation and funding support by Startup India Hub
• 37,195 queries have been handled by the Startup India Hub
• 104 applications have received rebate of up to 80% on patent fees and have also received legal assistance free of cost.
• 25 Startups have made request for expedited examination (Form 18(A)) whereas, trademark facilitation has been extended to 47 Startups
• 9 TBIs (Technology Business Incubators) have been funded by DST
• 290 Start-ups have received benefits from 20 bio-incubators supported by DBT (Department of Bio-Technology)
• 92 proposals from IITs have been recommended for approval for funding support by MHRD, DST and Industry under Uchchatar Avishkar Yojana (UAY)

• The Swachh Bharat Mission seeks to create an Open Defecation Free (ODF) and clean India by 2nd October, 2019

• 1,74,557 villages, 118 districts and 3 States have been declared ODF
• Over 3.6 crore household toilets have been constructed since the launch of the Mission
• Incentive for individual toilet has been increased to Rs. 12,000.
• 80 lakh toilets constructed from 2.10.2014 to 2.10.2015 against expected 60 lakh.
• Against the yearly target of 50 lakh for individual latrines for the year 2014-15, 58,54,987 latrines were constructed, which is achievement of 117% of the target.
• 45.59 lakh and 49.76 lakh toilets were constructed in 2012-13 and 2013-14 respectively. On the other hand, in the first two years of NDA Government, 58.54 lakh and 97.73 lakh toilets constructed in 2014-15 and in 2015-16 (upto 29.2.2015).

Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban)

• The Swachh Bharat Mission seeks to create an Open Defecation Free (ODF) and clean India by 2nd October, 2019

• About 31 lakh Individual Household Toilets, 1.25 lakh Community and Toilet Seats have been so far built under this mission.
• Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat have declared all cities and towns as Open Defecation free.
• 633 cities have been so far declared Open Defecation Free and 531 of them have been independently verified and certified as ODF
• 100% Door to Door collection and transport of Municipal Solid Waste has been achieved in 39,995 wards out of the total 81,015 urban wards
• Processing of solid waste has reached 21.50% of the total waste being generated in urban areas.
