KARNATAKA, ANDHRA PRADESH, TAMILNADU
AND KERALA GET FUNDS FOR WASTELANDS DEVELOPMENT
Ministry of Rural
Development has released funds to the State Governments of Karnataka,
Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu and Kerala for various wasteland development
projects under Intergrated Wasteland Development Programme (IWDP).
Ministry has released
Rs.217.55 lakh to three districts of Karnataka for implementation
of IWDP Programme. Mandya district gets Rs.57.75 lakh, Mysore
– Rs.63.88 lakh and Gulberga district gets Rs.95.92 lakh during
2003-2004.
An amount of Rs.
193.89 lakh has been released to two districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Nizamabad district gets Rs.98.97 lakh and Vizianagaram district
receives Rs.94.92 lakh for implementation of Wasteland Project
during 2003-2004.
Ministry has released
Rs.82.16 lakh as 4th Installment under IWDP to Dindigul
district of Tamil Nadu during 2003-2004.
Kannur district of
Kerala gets Rs.61.10 lakh as second installment for Wastelands
Development under IWDP.
The basic objective
of the IWDP is aimed at an integrated development of wastelands/degraded
lands based on village/micro watershed plans.
