ENHANCING PASSENGER AMENITIES ON RAILWAYS

The Railways have set up 13 multi-cuisine Food Plazas at important stations, so far. Thirty four more Food Plazas are underway.

Food Plazas are intended to provide rail users hygienic and nutritious fast food and foods at railway stations. These Food Plazas are set up under the aegis of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

Other measures to improve catering include introduction of free infant food below five years in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains, rationalization of menu and tariff of standard casserole meals, breakfast, tea and coffee. Besides, optional catering services in Jan Shatabdi trains and introduction of railways own produced packaged mineral water Rail Neer, are some other improvements made in catering services.
