TERMINAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON RAILWAYS
The Railways have
begun implementing the module Terminal Management System (TMS)
to improve wagon turnaround by reducing the gap between unloading
and loading of wagons. This will almost eliminate detention of
wagons at terminal stations.
Meanwhile, one core
module of the Freight Operation Information System (FOIS) for
monitoring movement of rakes has been implemented on all Zonal
Railways by June 2001.
As a result, FOIS
terminals are now available at 235 locations across the network
of Indian Railways for monitoring the movement of rakes.
Implementation of
this module has resulted in improved management of rakes.
TMS and FOIS are
intended to raise productivity of wagons.
