REVISION IN LPG DISTRIBUTORS’ COMMISSION
Shri Ram Naik, Minister
of Petroleum & Natural Gas has approved a proposal to increase
the distributors’ commission on domestic LPG by 38 paise on a
14.2 kg. cylinder and by 20 paise on a 5 kg. cylinder. These changes
will come into effect from 1st October, 2003. Accordingly,
the rate of commission would increase from Rs. 16.33 to Rs. 16.71
on a 14.2 kg cylinder and from Rs. 8.40 to Rs. 8.60 on a 5 kg.
cylinder. The increase comes to 2.33 per cent and 2.38 per cent
respectively.
The revision in commission
has been made in accordance with the neutralisation formulae taking
into account the factors such as changes in wages of the workers,
product cost and the All India Consumer Price Index. This revision
has been effected taking into consideration the recommendations
made by the Oil Industry. The distributors’ commission on LPG
was last revised on 1.11.2002.
It may be recalled
that to safeguard the interests of vulnerable and economically
weaker sections of the society, the Government has decided on
11.9.2003 that prices of domestic LPG and Public Distribution
Scheme Kerosene will not be increased, though the prices in the
international oil market have become very volatile. The price
of LPG would have gone up by about Rs. 105 per cylinder and of
PDS Kerosene by Rs. 3 per litre had the decision not been taken
by the Government at this juncture.
