MODIFICATION OF RAIL COCHES

The Railways have taken up modification of 100 coaches during the current financial year 2003-2004 by providing them with modular toilets, which are of improved design and easier to clean with better aesthetics.

Besides, Railways have taken up production of 25 coaches with Controlled Discharge Facility toilets during 2003-2004.

The modular toilets are intended to effect environmental cleanliness in the railway premises.

The coaches running on Lucknow-New Delhi Shatabdi have toilets with Controlled Discharge Facility and these open up only when the train is in motion. The station area does not get dirty even if these toilets are used when the trains are stationary.
