TWO MUSTARD VARIETIES IDENTIFIED FOR RELEASE

Based on multi-location test performance, two mustard varieties have been identified for release. CS 614-4-1-4 developed at the Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI), Karnal, is resistant to salinity and identified for saline regions of the country. The other variety developed at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, is a short duration mustard variety which matures only in 100 days. Normal mustard varieties take more than 140 days to mature. It is a good variety for early sowing in the north eastern states of the country.
