RAILWAYS STRENGTHENING RESCUE AND RELIEF WORKS

Indian Railways have taken up strengthening of the infrastructure to speed up rescue and relief works simultaneously in all the Zonal Railways at a cost of Rs. 400 crores. This project will be completed within a three -year time frame.

The scheme aims at reaching out all rescue and relief measures at the site within the first hour of a train accident. It is believed that chances of survival of a victim increase manifold if medical and surgical intervention is arranged within the first hour. Rushing all types of rescue and relief measures in the first hour is known as the ‘Golden Hour’.

The Railways are making concerted efforts to accelerate the relief to reach the accident victims within the ‘Golden Hour’, as much as possible.
