INDIAN OIL DONATES FOUR AMBULANCES
FOR ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS
Shri Ram Naik, Minister
of Petroleum & Natural Gas announced that four Ambulances
for the use of people in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are
being donated by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). These Ambulances
will be used for ferrying patients to hospitals in different regions
of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands which include Car Nicobar,
Rangat, Diglipur and Port Blair. The operations and maintenance
of these ambulances will be looked after by the organisations
engaged in serving the people across the Andaman & Nicobar
Islands.
Accordingly, the
ambulances will be delivered for Car Nicobar area to Tribal Council
of Car Nicobar, for Port Blair area to Municipal Council, Port
Blair, for Rangat area to Vanavashi Kalyan Ashram, Rangat and
for Diglipur area to Gram Panchayat, Diglipur or A & N Admin.
Shri Ram Naik had
assured that the request by Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament
representing the Islands in Lok Sabha for donating Ambulances
would be considered. Shri Ray explained the difficulties faced
by Island people in visiting hospitals during the times of illness.
Indian Oil Corporation would be donating the Ambulances as part
of their community service programme. The oil sector has always
been on the forefront in rendering its services to the cause of
the society – be it relief and rehabilitation during natural calamities
or the undertaking of programmes for the benefit of the community
based on local needs all over the country.
