RAILWAYS TO MODERNISE ITS SECURITY FORCES

Indian Railways have initiated action to further equip Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) to step up overall safety and security of passengers and rail installations. Provision of the latest training facilities, weaponary, wireless communication and vehicles form part of this new initiative.

As per the scheme, outside interference with rail installations like track and signalling equipment will be curtailed considerably. These personnel will also help in guarding bridges, microwave towers, route relay cabins and tracks of identified vulnerable sections of Indian Railways.

The modernization of RPF and RPSF is intended to provide safety of rail services and security of passengers following the emerging security scenario in the country.
