KASHIRAM RANA INAUGURATED GRAM SHREE MELA AT GURGAON


Shri Kashiram Rana, Union Minister for Rural Development said that the Ministry will support and promote good voluntary organizations who are contributing towards poverty alleviation and rural development at the grass roots level. Inaugurating a week long "Gram Shree Mela" organized by CAPART in Gurgaon yesterday, Shri Rana stressed that Gram Shree Mela is a gateway through which rural producers come together to market their products, providing an opportunity to rural producers to sell their products directly in the market, to interact with the buyers and to study their preferences and choices. Shri Rana expressed hope that it will help them to upgrade their marketing skills and provide a better service to consumers.

Shri Rana lauded the effort of CAPART in this direction. He informed under Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) upto now, 14.5 lakh Self Help Groups have been mobilised and 37 lakh swarozgaris have been assisted with an investment of Rs. 7500 crore.

Ms. Komal Anand, DG informed that CAPART has tied-up with National Institute of Design to arrange workshops to train rural artisans. They will also provide free design to rural producers. She informed that CAPART will participate in International Trade Fairs at Italy, Malaysia, U.K. and Egypt during this year.
