COPPER PRODUCTION IN APRIL-JULY

The total copper production in the country during April-July 2003 has been 1,23,437 tonnes against 1,04,355 tonnes during the same period last year. It has been slightly less than the target of 1,34,554 tonnes for the period. Out of the total production during these 4 months the public sector Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL) produced 10,816 tonnes, Private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company Ltd. (HINDALCO) 50,957 tonnes and Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd. (SIL) 61,664 tonnes.

During July 2003 the total production of copper has been 34,220 tonnes against a target of 38,998 tonnes. Out of this HCL produced 3,078 tonnes, HINDALCO 14, 581 tonnes and SIL 16,561 tonnes.
