PERFORMANCE OF RAILWAY PRODUCTION
UNITS DURING APRIL-AUGUST
All the Railway
Production Units performed well during the first five months of
the current financial year ending August 2003, with the Rail Wheel
Factory (RWF) exceeding the target.
The RWF, Bangalore,
produced 42481 wheels and 18982 axels as against the target of
41916 and 18274 respectively. The Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala,
just met the target by rolling out 416 coaches.
The Chittaranjan
Locomotive Works (CLW), the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi
and the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, fell short of the
target marginally. The CLW rolled out 25 electric locomotives
as against the target of 25, the DLW 40 diesel locomotives as
against the target of 42, the ICF 354 coaches as against the target
of 365 and the Diesel Multiple Works (DMW), Patiala, rebuilt 27
diesel locomotives as against the target of 30.
The shortfall
in production targets will be made over during the remaining period
of this fiscal.
During August,
2003, the number of wagons (eight wheelers) produced was 1021.5,
exceeding the target of 1000 by 21.5 wagons.
