ANDHRA PRADESH AND KARNATAKA GET FUNDS FOR WASTELANDS DEVELOPMENT
Ministry of Rural
Development has released funds for wastelands development to the
State Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka during 2003-04.
An amount of Rs.
241.20 lakh has been released to three districts of Andhra Pradesh
under Integrated Wastelands Development Programme, (IWDP). Nellore
gets Rs.97.24 lakh as sixth instalment, Warangal-Rs.70.63 lakh
as fifth instalment and Medak district gets Rs 73.33 lakh as fifth
instalment.
An amount of Rs.88.75
lakh has been released to two districts of Karnataka under IWDP.
Chitradurga district gets Rs.50 lakh as sixth instalment and Kolar
district get Rs.38.75 lakh as second instalment for IWDP.
The basic objective
of the Programme is aimed at integrated development of wastelands
/degraded lands based on village/micro watershed plans.
