INDIAN PANORAMA – 2003 INAUGURATED

BAZAAR - 2003 OFF TO A RESOUNDING START
The Minister of Information
& Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad said that films,
which are shown in the Indian Panorama section of the 34th
Indian International Film Festival of India – 2003 reflect the
sheer richness of diversity in India, which is found nowhere in
the world. Inaugurating the Indian Panorama – 2003 here today,
Shri Prasad said that this section, which includes 18 feature
films and 13 non-feature films, are made by eminent directors,
actors and producers hailing from different languages and regions.
More opportunities should be given to such highly creative films
to reach more and more people, he said.
Shri Prasad said
that the Indian films are being given wide recognition worldwide
and credit goes to eminent film personalities for taking the Indian
richness of diversity to the highest tide. He urged the private
satellite channels to give due consideration to promote Indian
regional films so that people will have the opportunity to enjoy
popular and good Indian films made in different regional languages.
Also present on the
occasion were Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting,
Shri Pawan Chopra, Chairman of the Jury for Indian Panorama –
2003 (Feature Films), Shri Prakash Jha, director of the inaugural
film ‘Anaahat’ (Marathi), Shri Amol Palekar among other dignitaries.
Earlier, Shri Prasad
also inaugurated ‘Film Bazaar’ at the Siri Fort Complex. Speaking
on the occasion, the Minister said that the film festivals offer
good networking and commerce for which the ‘Film Bazaar’ was introduced
last year and hoped in this second year of the introduction the
‘Film Bazaar’ the film marketing and entertainment related products
will record a distinct improvement and if the present pace was
maintained it could become a hub of Indian film marketing, he
added.
