PSUs ADVISED TO CONSIDER PROVIDING JOBS TO PERSONS WITH MILD/MODERATE MENTAL RETARDATION

Shri Subodh Mohite, Minister for Heavy Industry & Public Enterprises has advised public sector undertakings, under the Ministry to consider providing job opportunities to persons with mild/moderate mental retardation against identified simple jobs. This is on the recommendation of the Central Co-ordination Committee based on a study conducted by National Institute for Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), informed Shri Mohite. NIMH had recommended that the Government or semi-Government establishments can play a major role in providing opportunities in jobs/work for development of persons with metal retardation.

The Heavy Industry & Public Enterprises Minister has said that the list of jobs identified can be considered by Public Sector Undertakings while engaging persons for these jobs on contractual basis.
