HINDI SALAHAKAR SAMITI OF MINES MINISTRY MEETS

The officials and employees should develop a liking for Hindi as it is the only link language to ensure unity amidst all diversities in the country, said today the members of the Hindi Salahakar Samiti of the Mines Ministry. They urged all concerned for putting in more concerted efforts to further project the use of Hindi in the Ministry of Mines and its public sector undertakings (PSUs). The meeting was held here under the chairmanship of the Minister for Mines Shri Ramesh Bais.

The Minister outlined the activities of the Ministry to implement Hindi in its departments and PSUs. Most of the employees, he said, have been trained under the Hindi Teaching Scheme. The Ministry has taken initiatives to popularise the language in the office work by observing Hindi Day, Week and Fortnight and by arranging competitions among the employees and awarding prizes. During this year the officers of the Ministry have inspected the offices of IBM, MECL and NALCO to look into the progress of implementation of the official language. The Ministry organised a Technical Seminar in last July to discuss problems regarding translation of technical terms from English to Hindi.

Shri Bais said that the Ministry has a scheme to encourage the original writings in Hindi. It brings out a quarterly home magazine 'Khan Sampada' to popularise its activities. GSI and NALCO have brought out special issue of their home journals 'Bhu Sandesh' and 'Akshar' on the occasion of last Hindi fortnight.
