GUNA-ETAWAH RAIL LINE
Guna-Gwalior and
Gwalior-Bhind sections of 344 kilometre long broad gauge new lines
taken up at a cost of Rs. 400 crores have already been completed
and commissioned.
Works on the last
phase of this project from Bhind to Itawah on 36 kilometre long
stretch have commenced. A sum of Rs. 40 crores has been provided
in 2003-2004 for this project.
The works in the
last phase involve construction of three major bridges on the
rivers Chambal, Kuwari and Yamuna. The bridge on Chambal will
be 9x76.2 metres long, Kuwari 6x45.75+1x76.2 metres long and Yamuna
10x61 metres long.
A sum of Rs. 40 crores
has been provided in 2003-2004 for this project.
All piers on Yamuna
bridge have been completed. Protection work is in progress. Foundation
works of Chambal and Kuwari bridges are in progress. Land acquisition
from Etawah end of Chambal river to Etawah is being pursued with
the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The works are targeted for completion
in 2004.
The Guna-Etawah Broad
guage new lines were taken up in 1989-1990.
