AMENDMENTS TO THE PREVENTION OF FOOD ADULTERTION RULES –1955

NOTE
The Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare, Department of Health, Government of India
has issued an Amendment to Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules,
1955 vide Gazette notification published in Part II, Section 3
(1), Gazette of India Extraordinary vide GSR No.832 (E) dated
21.10.2003. The amendment concerns:-
(1) Rule
13 pertaining to examination of any female worker, if she
is suffering from or harbouring the germs of any infectious
disease. It has been made mandatory that any female worker
above the age of 8 years will be examined only by a woman
duly authorized by the Food Inspector.
- Amendment to Rule 51 relating
to duration of licence – the time period for duration of validity
of licence has been left to the State Governments.
- Prescribing Form IX for intimation
to vendor if sample so lifted by food inspector is found to
be conforming to the prescribed standards.
