COMMUNAL HARMONY AND FLAG DAY OBSERVED
TODAY
The National Foundation
for Communal Harmony is observing Flag Day today. To symbolize
this a group of children accompanied by officers from the National
Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) called on the President
of India, the Vice President of India and the Deputy Prime Minister,
this morning and pinned Flags on the personalities.
The NFCH assists
child victims of communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence.
It extends financial assistance ranging from Rs.600 to Rs. 650/-
per month to each child upto the age of 18 years which may be
extended upto 21 years in exceptional cases. The organization
has so far assisted 3500 children and disbursed a sum of Rs.7.48
crores. The Foundation observes: Communal Harmony Campaign and
Fund Raising Week every year from the 19th to the 25th
November. The Campaigning Week culminates in the observance of
Flag Day.
The Deputy Prime
Minister and Home Minister, Shri L.K. Advani after interacting
with the children in the morning highly lauded the National Foundation
for Communal Harmony for its commendable service. He appealed
the citizens to come out of the narrow feelings of communal, caste
and ethnic ill will. Then only India can progress as a Nation
and development can progress uninterrupted, he said.
