PERFORMANCE OF RAILWAY PRODUCTION UNITS
DURING APRIL-SEPTEMEBR 2003
All the Railway Production Units
performed well during the first half of the current fiscal ending
September 2003, with the Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) exceeding the
target and the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) and the Rail
Coach Factory (RCF) just meeting the targets.
The RWF rolled out 53,001 wheels
as against the target of 44,716 and 23,490 axles as against the
target of 21,228.
The CLW produced 29 electric locomotives,
the DLW 50 diesel locomotives and RCF 516 coaches.
The Integral Coach Factory (ICF)
and the Diesel Multiple Works (DMW), however, performed below
the target by producing 444 coaches as against the target of 480
and rebuilding 33 diesel locomotives as against the target of
36. The shortfall in the production targets will be made up in
the coming months of the current financial year 2003-2004.
During September, 2003, a total of
1,170 wagons (eight wheelers) were produced as against the target
of 1,200.
