MADURAI-RAMESHWARAM BROAD GAUGE PROJECT
RAJYA SABHA
The earthwork and
bridges are in progress on Madurai-Manamadurai section. The tenders
for earthwork and bridges on Manamadurai-Mandapam section have
been processed.
The likely expenditure
on the project upto March 2003 is Rs. 9.17 crore and an outlay
of Rs. 10 crore has been provided during 2003-2004.
The work on Madurai-Manamadurai
section is targetted for completion by June 2004 and Manamadurai-Rameshwaram
by December 2005. The work is being expedited to complete as per
the time schedule.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Bandaru Dattatraya
in a written reply to a question from Shri S.S. Chandran in the
Rajya Sabha today.
