CIVIL SERVICE (MAIN) EXAMINATION, 2002 RESULTS DECLARED


The Union Public Service Commission has declared the Civil Service (Main) Examination 2002 results today. In all 286 candidates including 88 belonging to the Other Backward Classes, 38 to the Scheduled Castes, 22 to the Scheduled Tribes have been recommended for appointment to the I) Indian Administrative Service; ii) Indian Foreign Service; iii) Indian Police Service; and iv) Central Services, Group "A" and Group ‘B’. The examinations were held by the UPSC in October-November, 2002 and interviews for Personality Test in April 2003.

In all 301585 candidates applied for this examinations out of which 157486 took the Preliminary Examinations. 3483 were qualified for the Main Examinations, out of which 750 were called for interviews for final selection. 286 Candidates have been finally selected and recommended for appointment.

Shri Ankur Garg an engineer from IIT Delhi topped this year’s examination. This was his first attempt. Ms. S. Aswathy, M.Phil from University of Hyderabad has topped amongst the Female candidates in her First attempt. She secured the 3rd position in the overall merit list. Shri Kamal Kishore Yadav, MA from Rajasthan University, Jaipur has secured top position amongst the OBC candidates. The top 20 candidates include 14 males and 6 females.
