FOR GROWTH IN HEALTH SECTOR – SMT. SWARAJ

OF HEALTH SIGNS MOU WITH HOSPITAL SERVICES CONSULTANCY CORPORATION
(HSCC)
The Minister for
Health & Family Welfare Smt. Sushma Swaraj, has said that
with new policy initiatives being undertaken in the infrastructural
segment of the health sector, new growth opportunities had emerged
for the public and private sector. In the Government sector it
was a challenge for institutions such as the Hospital Services
Consultancy Corporation (HSCC) to diversify their expertise and
specialization in health management and infrastructural development.
Lauding the efforts of the PSU, the Minister said over the years
the Institution had become the flagship for infrastructural development
in the health sector. It was a matter of great satisfaction that
the work for road maping the development AIIMS models in six different
parts of the country had been allocated to the Institute. The
Department had also entrusted the Institute for finalising the
Sanjeevani Project related to disaster and crisis management.
The Minister stated this while delivering her address at the Foundation
Day celebrations of HSCC here today.
In another major
initiative for providing innovative and high quality knowledge
base services to the health and social sectors, Shri S.K. Naik,
Secretary(Health), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and
Shri Ashok Kumar, CMD, Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation(HSCC)
today signed an MOU fixing performance parameters for the company
for the year 2003-04 in presence of the Minister of Health &
Family Welfare Smt. Sushma Swaraj. sThe company has been continuously
growing over the past few years and expects to achieve a turnover
of approx. Rs.250 million this year.
HSCC is presently
implementing more than 25 large health-care projects worth Rs.900
crore. An ISO 9001 company, which has been involved in the vital
area of health-care by providing consultancy services right from
concept to commissioning in health, social and environmental areas.
Its services encompass conceptual studies & management consultancy,
engineering studies, project management, procurement services,
logistics & installation, information technology etc. The
company provides consultancy services to Central Government, State
Government, Trusts, Corporate as well as Private Sector.
HSCC has been rated
‘excellent’ for the sixth consecutive year (2001-02) by Department
of Public Enterprises for the MOU signed with the Ministry of
Health & Family Welfare and once again is expected to be rated
‘Excellent’ for the year 2002-03 on the basis of provisional results.
HSCC has excelled
in productivity improvement, where it has grown by 7 times i.e.
from Rs.2.00 lakh per employee in 1997-98 to Rs.14.00 lakh per
employee today. The Corporation has also undertaken a study project
on environmental status of MSW Land fill side at Delhi and its
upgradation totally at its own cost. The study is in its final
phase and the recommendations would be soon submitted to the Government.
