SANJAY KUMBKARNI WINS NATIONAL PHOTO
AWARD
Shri Sanjay Kumbkarni
of Panchkula and Shri Suman Chatterjee of Kolkata have been awarded
the first prize in the Colour and Black and White Section respectively
of the 15th National Photo Contest on the theme of
"Life in Mountains" organized by Photo Division, Ministry
of Information & Broadcasting. The second prize goes to Shri
Samir Basu of CESC, Kolkata and Shri Anil Risal Singh of NRLC,
Lucknow. Whereas Third Prize goes to Shri Barum Kr. Datta of Hooghly
and Shri K. Sudhakar Reddy of Guntur.
The first prize carries
a cash award of ten thousand rupees, momento and citation. Ten
consolation prizes for the Contest have been given to S/Shri B.
S. Sodhi, Bijoy Chowdhury, Prem Kapoor, Kailash Soni, Chander
P. Dawan, Anindya Majumdar, Prasanta Kumar Das, Barun Kr. Datta,
Indranil Sengupta, Jayanta Roy, Pravin Rawat, Bijoy Chowdhury,
Avijit Roy, Chinlop Fudong Lepcha, Sankar Sridhar, Udayan Chatterji,
Anindya Majumdar, N. L. Jewaria, Dinesh Shukla and Dev Raj Agarwal.
A total number of
1883 entries were received for the competition from the different
parts of the country. A National Jury comprising of very important
and eminent mountain Photographers Shri Ashok Dilwali and Shri
Threesh Kapoor with Shri Debatosh Sengupta, Deputy Director, Photo
Division went through all the entries and selected a total number
of 125 photographs for the exhibition.
Shri Ravi Shankar
Prasad, Minister of Information & Broadcasting will distribute
the awards and inaugurate the exhibition of the selected photographs
at Azad Bhawan, New Delhi on 27th March 2003 at 4.00
p.m.
