MARATI COMMUNITY IN KERALA REMOVED FROM SCHEDULED TRIBES LIST
The Government has deleted
the Marati community living in Hosdrug and Kasaragod taluks of
Cannanore district of Kerala from the list of Scheduled Tribes.
This has been done on the recommendation of the government of
Kerala, the Registrar General of India and the National Commission
for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. However, the Marati
community living in South Kanara district of Karnataka continues
to be notified as Scheduled Tribe as there has been no recommendation
for their exclusion by the Karnataka government.
