MULTI-SPECIALITY HEALTH CHECK-UP AND AWARENESS CAMP, ORGANISED BY ESIC, ATTRACTED PATIENTS FROM FAR AND WIDE


Multi-speciality health check-up and awareness camp, organised by Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), attracted patients from far and wide. This camp was organised at Madhu Vihar, Sector 5, Dwarka, New Delhi on 15th and16th March, 2003. The camp was inaugurated by the Vice President of India, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. The health check up was also thrown open to General Public besides the ESI beneficiaries of Delhi area.

In this Health Awareness Camp, about 150 doctors from ESIC and 50 doctors from DGHS, Rotary Club, Dharamshila Cancer Institute and The Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh participated. Facilities for about 20 speciality check ups were provided.

During the two-day camp, 7,365 patients were provided medical assistance as follows:

Of the above, about 5000 patients were given medicines which had been collected from various sources without incurring of any cost by ESIC. 339 patients had their ECGs done while 426 of them had blood tested in the field Laboratory set up there. The mobile Dental unit examined/treated the teeth of 533 visitors. A large number of beneficiaries viz. 1265 persons had their eyes examined. All these services were provided free of cost to both the Insured Persons and the general public.

The Corporation incurred some expenditure on account of putting up of pandals (The Indian Army had provided 15 expandable tents free of costs) and publicity but these were rather modest.
