PROPOSALS FOR SHOOTING FOREIGN
FILMS IN INDIA BEING
REVIEWED
The Government have
received 49 proposals for shooting feature films by foreigners
in India during the last three years.
Replying to a question
by Shri Vilas Muttemwar in Lok Sabha today, the Minister of Information
and Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad said that 18 proposals
were received in the year 2000, 14 in 2001 and 17 in 2002.
Shri Prasad said
that review of the procedures with a view to facilitate and promote
the shooting of foreign films in India, is being done in consultation
among the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ministry
of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Replying to another
question by Shri Ramjivan Singh, the Minister said that the National
Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has requested the film industry
associations/trade bodies in the film industry to extend all possible
help to the distressed family of Dadasaheb Phalke, the pioneer
of Indian cinema.
