IAS PROBATIONERS CALL ON ADVANI

A Batch of Sixty IAS Probationers called on the Deputy Prime Minister and the Home Minister, Shri L.K.Advani here today. The Probationers are drawn from different States, Bihar and UP contributing the largest group. The speciality of this group is that they are mostly drawn from agriculture education background whereas in earlier years IIT graduates formed the chunk of the cadre.

Interacting with the Probationers Shri L.K. Advani called upon them to be confident and optimistic, as they form the backbone of the administration in the Government. This will contribute to negate the cynicism and pessimism that generally exist in the society. Addressing the group he said India did not pay the required attention for the health and education sector after getting independence and therefore we have not been successful to explore the potential in the country in every field. The party in power makes policy decisions but it is the administrators who actually implement this in the field. Unless they are sincere and confident and committed no scheme or programme will be successful. Another aspect in the society he touched is the level of corruption. He said with the best talent of the society coming to the Indian Administrative Service, these young men and women should develop some determination to root out this evil and in the process they will make valuable contribution in building the society. This is because they will be working at the district and block levels.
