LOK SABHA
Total area of land
acquired for Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) of the Steel Authority
of India Limited (SAIL) was 31287.24 acres. The land has
been utilised for the purpose it was acquired for.
Out of this 336.73
acres have been allotted on lease to individual traders, non-government
organisations and educational institutions. The land was allotted
on lease basis for a period of 30-33 years. The land rent in
respect of commercial plots was 1 per cent of the applicable
premium and for institutional plots, there was a token rent
of Rs. 1/-. At present the land rent is 1 per cent of the applicable
premium for all categories.
The area of
land given on lease during the last three years is 31846.76
square metre. Besides 4579 quarters have been allotted on lease
basis from June 2001 to March 5, 2003.

was given by the Minister for Steel, Shri Braja Kishore Tripathy
in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
