RS. 4203 CRORE DISBURSED UNDER
TECHNOLOGY UPGRADATION FUND SCHEME
The Ministry of Textiles
had received 2023 applications till December 2002 for Technology
Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS). 1982 applications were sanctioned
loans amounting to Rs. 6101 crore. Out of these, Rs. 4203 crore
loans have already been disbursed to 1430 applicants. The total
project costs in respect of the sanctioned and disbursed applications
are Rs. 12384 crore and Rs. 10340 crore respectively.
The Government launched
TUFS for textile and jute industries on 1.4.1999 for a period
of five years with a view of facilitate modernisation and technology
upgradation in these sectors. The scheme provides a reimbursement
of 5 per cent on the interest charged by the lending agency on
any project of technology upgradation in conformity with the TUFS.
With effect from January 1, 2002, an option has been provided
to the small-scale textile and jute industries to avail of either
12 per cent Credit Linked Capital Subsidy or 5 per cent interest
reimbursement under TUFS.
