Vishakhapatnam
Steel Plant (VSP), a public sector plant of the Steel Ministry
is all set to achieve the best ever yearly performance during
2002-03 with impressive achievements on all major fronts during
the first 11 months of the current financial year.
VSP produced
3602244 tonnes of Hot metal, 304931 tonnes of Liquid steel and
2761458 tonnes of saleable steel during the period April 2002-February
2003 and thus registered an impressive growth of 14 per cent,
10 per cent and 12 per cent respectively compared to the same
period last year. It achieved best February performance since
inception in production of sinter, hot metal, billet, bar, wire
rod, finished steel and saleable steel.
It recorded
a sales turnover of Rs. 439 crore during February 2003 and achieved
a growth of 15 per cent over the sales during the same period
last year. Due to proactive marketing strategies adopted by
the plant, the cumulative sales touched a record figure of Rs.
4289 crore during April 2002 to February 2003, registering an
all time record growth of 22 per cent over the same period last
year. The cumulative sales during these 11 months work out to
a growth of 18 per cent in the domestic market and 63 per cent
in the export market compared to the same period of the previous
year.
VSP has surpassed
rated capacities in the production of hot metal, saleable steel,
liquid steel, CC blooms, bar products and sized ore production
during the month of February 2003. It crossed the earlier yearly
best performance in production of sinter, medium merchant and
structural mill production, hot metal, bar products and saleable
steel.
