The Ministry
of Rural Development has released Rs.794 lakh to fourteen districts
of Madhya Pradesh as Central share of assistance for planning
& development of watershed projects for implementation of
Drought Prone Areas Programme (DPAP) during 2002-2003.
Out of this total
amount Shajapur district gets Rs. 63.03 lakh, Jhabua – Rs.23.335
lakh, Guna –Rs. 124.875 lakh, Badwani – Rs. 166.40 lakh, Umaria
– Rs. 81.00 lakh, Damoh – Rs. 33.27 lakh, Khandwa – Rs. 33.63
lakh, Dhar – Rs. 53.865 lakh, Chindwara – Rs.54 lakh, Ratlam
– Rs. 6.73 lakh, Jabalpur – Rs.6.72 lakh, Seoni – Rs. 47.25
lakh, Betul – Rs. 66.90 lakh and Khargone – Rs. 33.38 lakh.
The state government
has to release its share to the concerned DRDA within 15 days
from the date of release of the central share.
The development
of wasteland and degraded lands under the programme is expected
to promote employment generation in the rural areas besides
enhancing the participation of people at all stages leading
to sustainable development of land and sharing of the benefits.
