FUNDS RELEASED TO JAMMU & KASHMIR UNDER SGRY AND FOR TOTAL SANITATION
CAMPAIGN
Ministry of Rural
Development has released an amount of Rs. 6.05 crore as first
instalment of central funds under Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana
(SGRY) (1st stream) to the 11 districts of Jammu &
Kashmir. These districts are Anantnag, Budgam, Baramulla, Doda,
Jammu, Kathua, Kupwara, Poonch, Pulwama, Rajouri and Udhampur.
The cash expenditure on implementation of the programme is to
be shared on 75:25 basis between the Centre and the State respectively.
The first stream of the programme is being implemented at the
district and intermediate level Panchayats.
Ministry has released
Rs. 76.48 lakh towards the first instalment for Anantnag and Rajouri
district of the state under Total Sanitation Campaign of the Central
Rural Sanitation Programme during 2003-04. Anantnag district will
get Rs. 46.46 lakh while Rajouri district will receive Rs. 30.02
lakh for rural sanitation. The Total Sanitation Campaign focuses
on awareness generation to create demand for sanitation facilities.
Financial support is given for construction of individual household
toilets by the below poverty line, school toilets for all government
schools in the rural areas, toilets for Anganwadi and Balwadi
centres, community sanitary complexes for women in villages, where
land availability with individual is a problem and people are
ready to own, operate and maintain such complexes.
