PERFORMANCE OF RAILWAY PRODUCTION UNITS IN APRIL 2003

All the six Railway Production Units performed well during April 2003, the first month of the current financial year 2003-2004, by meeting the target.

The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) achieved the target by producing four electric Locomotives. The Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi and Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala met the target by rolling out five diesel locomotives and 80 coaches.

The Rail Wheel Factory (RWF), Bangalore produced 8185 wheels and 3432 axles as against the target of 7651 wheels and 3027 axles, thus, exceeding the production.

The Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai produced 35 coaches against the target of 46 coaches for April 2003 and the Diesel Component Works (DCW), Patiala re-built five diesel locomotive as against the target of six. The shortfall in ICF is on account of accumulated arrears and will be made good in coming months.
