KONKAN RAILWAY INITIATES SPECIAL MEASURES FOR TRACK PATROLLING


Konkan Railway has put in place special measures for intensive locomotive based inspection of its tracks every two hours. This is in addition to the intensive walking patrolling which has been going on since the onset of monsoon. More than 100 cellphones are being provided for instant communications and forming a network for pre-warning. Four additional locos duly equipped with cell phone communication as well as manned by engineers will be used to run ahead of train. These special measures will continue to be in place till installation of other electronic detecting device for monitoring earth slopes throughout Konkan Railway.

The restoration work of the affected section due to accident of the ill-fated 904 Karwar-Ahemedabad Holiday Special train is now complete. 0103/0104 Mandovi Express and Diva-Sawantwadi-Madgaon passenger trains have been cancelled for the day. 2432 Dn Hazrat-Nizamuddin-Trivandrum Rajdhani Express diverted and 0111 Dn Konkankanya Express from Mumbai will be terminated at Ratnagiri. 2620 UP Matsyagandha Express from Mangalore will be terminated at Madgaon. By this evening all services will be nomalised. Presently 13 pairs for Express trains and 5 pairs of passenger trains run through the Konkan Railway route of 760 kilometres.
