RAILWAY MINISTER TO INAUGURATE OPTIC FIBRE CABLE

The Union Minister of Railways, Shri Nitish Kumar will inaugurate optic fibre cable (OFC) network of three Zonal Railways, Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South Western Railway at a function at Bangalore on June 26, 2003. With the commissioning of optic fibre cable network between Banglaore-Secunderabad-Vijayawada-Chennai, the communication network on Southern Railway, Chennai, South Central Railway, Secunderabad and South Western Railway, Hubli would improve tremendously. It will be faster, efficient and strengthen safety standards of rail services.

The Minister of State for Railways, Shri A.K. Moorthy will commission OFC at Chennai and the Minister of State for Railways, Shri Bandaru Dattatraya at Secunderabad. All the three functions will commence simultaneously via video conferencing.
