PRESS RELEASE
It has come to the notice of the President's Secretariat
that a number of organisations from various parts of the country
have been submitting requests for naming educational institutions,
private and public buildings, major public works, institutes,
villages etc. in the President’s name. Recent news reports have
also spoken of the establishment of some trusts and fan clubs
dedicated to the President by name.
The President considers such moves highly
inappropriate and hence totally disapproves of them. Such individuals
and groups may kindly note this and desist from these moves forthwith.
Instead they should engage themselves in tasks of nation building
through developmental programmes specifically aimed at ameliorating
the lot of the needy and the underprivileged. The President expects
that his sentiments will be honoured both in letter and spirit.
