INQUIRY INTO GOLDEN TEMPLE EXPRESS FIRE ACCIDENT IN CONCLUSIVE


The Commissioner of Railway Safety, North Eastern Circle, Shri Bhupender Singh, who held a statutory enquiry into the unusual occurrence of fire in three coaches of 2903 UP Golden Temple Mail at about 3.55 a.m. on May 15, 2003 between Ludhiana and Lodowal Railway stations on Ludhiana-Amritsar Broad gauge double line non-electrified section of Ferozepur Division of Northern Railway, has not been able to come to any conclusion as to how the fire started till such time the report of the State Forensic Science Laboratory, Chandigarh, is received by him. According to the Commissioner, the fire started from the S-4 coach.

The statutory enquiry was held at Ludhiana from May 18 to 21 2003 and thereafter from May 24 to 27, 2003 at New Delhi.
