TASK FORCE TO FINALISE MODALITIES FOR "MARU GOCHAR YOJANA"
A Task Force has
been constituted to formulate a special programme "Maru
Gochar Yojana" to be taken up for desert districts
of Rajasthan. This is in pursuance of the announcement made in
the Budget Speech for 2003-04. This programme will provide for
rehabilitation of traditional pastures by developing pasturage
nurseries, facilitate restoration of traditional water courses
and implement other measures for effective drought proofing.
The terms of reference
for the Task Force will be:-
- to identify the project area to
be taken up under the Maru Gochar Yojana in Rajasthan;
- to identify the activities to
be undertaken under Maru Gochar Yojana and the
timeframe and budget for various programme components;
- to recommend the institutional
framework and methodology for implementation of programme components;
and
- to monitor implementation.
Shri Kamal Morarka
will be the Chairman of the Task Force. Joint Secretary, Department
of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development will be the Member
Secretary. Other members are Joint Secretary, D/o. Agriculture
& Cooperation, Joint Secretary, D/o Animal Husbandry &
Dairying, Principal Secretary, D/o Rural Development, Govt. of
Rajasthan, Joint Secretary, D/o Expenditure and two representatives
of NGOs/Non-officials to be co-opted by the Chairman.
The term of the Task
Force shall be for the period of three years or for such further
period as may be decided by the Government.
