RAILWAY PASSENGERS BOOKED IN 2002-2003
The Railways moved 4968.56
million passengers during 2002-2003 as compared to 5093.88 million
passengers in 2001-2002, recording a shortfall of 125.32 million
passengers amounting to three per cent fall.
Of the total passengers 2930.74
million passengers were suburban and 2037.82 passengers non-suburban.
During the year, punctuality
of trains recorded on broad gauge was 91.2 per cent as against
the target of 90 per cent. The punctuality of metre gauge trains
was 96.4 per cent as against the target of 95 per cent.
