RURAL ELECTRIFICATION

Rural Electrification
Corporation (REC) has sanctioned the following rural electrification
schemes in the district of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir during
the last three years (2000-01 to 2002-03). No schemes of Poonch
district have been received by REC for sanction during the period.

During the said
period loan amount of Rs.2264 lakhs was sanctioned for the above
schemes.
The
loan amount released during the said period for Rajouri and Poonch
districts was Rs.530 lakh which included release for the schemes
sanctioned prior to the said period. Releases of REC loan is primarily
based on utilisation and the responsibility for accounting of
physical and financial progress under each scheme lies with the
concerned State Electricity Board/Power Utility.
This information
was given by Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of State for Power
in a written reply to a question by Shri Talib Hussain Chowdhary
in Lok Sabha today.
