POLYMER PRODUCTION BY GAIL
LOK SABHA
The polymer production
is being increased to 310,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) from 260,000
TPA through de-bottlenecking of the existing polymer plant (Swing
unit) of GAIL (India) Limited (GAIL)’s Petrochemical Plant at
Pata, U.P. The capacity will be further increased to 430,000 TPA
by setting up a new polymer plant (Swing unit) under expansion
project. The enhanced capacity would enable GAIL to satisfy the
demand growth of polyethylene which is expected to outstrip the
supply in 2005-06.
The investment for
the de-bottlenecking project is Rs. 76 crore and it is expected
to be completed by November, 2003. The investment for the expansion
project is Rs. 647 crore and it is scheduled for completion by
December, 2005.
The above information
was given by the Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural
Gas, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, today in the Lok Sabha in a written
reply.
