IMPORT OF CRUDE OIL

The crude oil processing
for the year 2003-04 is estimated at 116.678 million metric tonne
(MMT) and the crude oil imports are estimated at 87.617 MMT. Giving
this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Smt.
Sumitra Mahajan, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural
Gas said that during the year 2002-03, a quantity of about 82
MMT of crude oil was imported at a cost of US$ 15,759 million
(Rs. 76,195 crore).
Smt. Mahajan also
informed the House that the first shipment of ONGC-Videsh Limited
(OVL)’s share of crude oil from the Greater Nile Oil Project (GNOP),
Sudan with 5,99,264 barrels was purchased by Mangalore Refineries
& Petrochemicals Limited at a price of US$ 28.16 per barrel.
