SWAJALDHARA SCHEME IN KARNATAKA

Ministry of Rural Development has approved 62 projects out of 132 applications received under Swajaldhara Scheme in Karnataka in 2002-03.

During 2003-2004, Rs.1397.0289 lakh have been allocated to the government of Karnataka under Swajaldhara.

As per the Guidelines on Swajaldhara issued in June 2003, the District Implementing Agencies in consultation with State Government concerned can approve the projects.

Government of Karnataka has been released Rs.6.00 crore separately for rural water supply sector in the wake of the drought in the State during 2003-04.

This was informed by Shri Annasaheb M.K. Patil, Minister of State for Rural Development in Rajya Sabha today.
