Q-I ALUMINIUM PRODUCTION
The total aluminium
production in the country during April to June 2003 has been 202990
tonnes against a target of 202089 tonnes and against 163528 tonnes
during the same period last year. During the quarter, public sector
National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) produced 72848 tonnes
against a target of 70100 tonnes. The company produced 57129 tonnes
aluminium during the first quarter of 2002-03. The private sector
Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd. (BALCO) with 49 per cent central
Government equity produced 24541 tonnes during the first quarter
of this fiscal against 22421 tonnes during the same period last
year. Private sector Indian Aluminium Company Ltd. (INDAL) produced
17298 tonnes against a target of 18044 tonnes during this period
followed by Hindustan Aluminium Company Ltd. (HINDALCO) 80106
tonnes against a target of 81150 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company
Ltd. (MALCO) 8197 tonnes against a target of 8195 tonnes.
NALCO exported 1,00,000
tonnes of alumina and 99790 tonnes of aluminium during the month
of June 2003. It produced 24339 tonnes of aluminium during the
month against a target of 23250 tonnes. During the month BALCO
produced 8151 tonnes aluminium followed by INDAL 5779 tonnes,
HINDALCO 25253 tonnes and MALCO 2714 tonnes. The total production
of aluminium during the month was 66236 tonnes against a target
of 67016 tonnes. The total installed capacity of aluminium at
present in the country is 839500 tonnes.
