PRADESH UNDER MACRO MANAGEMENT SCHEME
The Centre has released
Rs. 8 crore to Himachal Pradesh under the Macro Management of
Agriculture Scheme. This is the first instalment of the allocation
of Rs.16 crore made to the State for 2003-04 under the Scheme.
In 2002-2003, Rs.16 crore was allocated and released to Himachal
Pradesh under the Scheme.
The Department of
Agriculture and Cooperation has been implementing this Centrally
sponsored Scheme. Under the Macro Management of Agriculture Scheme,
funds are released to the States and UTs on the basis of their
Work Plans. The Scheme was evolved by merging 27 ongoing Centrally
Sponsored Schemes to accord greater flexibility to the States
to develop and pursue agricultural activities on the basis of
their regional priorities to increase agricultural production.
Funds as provided and approved by the Planning Commission are
released to the States on lump sum basis under the Scheme.
